Written By: Ana-Maria Lee

Mental health is someone’s condition regarding their psychological and emotional well-being. Often when we discuss mental health, we talk about mental illness. We have gone a long way in understanding mental health, yet there is still a stigma. Mental health affects everyone differently, but the definition of mental illness varies from person to person around it. The term ‘mental health’ has been used for centuries to describe people who suffer from depression or a severe anxiety disorder. However, this definition does not include those with substance abuse problems.

It is crucial to understand that mental illnesses are treatable. However, they require treatment and support. If you don’t want to get help for your mental health problems, you can seek professional help. Mental health is a complex issue that involves many different aspects of your own beliefs, values, and attitudes. It is necessary to know what you believe in before seeking help.
