17, and she has
Lists of unending expectations,
Mounds of work
Occupying every second.
17, and worrying about
Job skills,
Bills,
Pills.
17, and
She can’t smile.
She can’t speak.
She can’t breathe.
17, and she’s
Bullied,
Dismissed,
Unloved.
17, and
The last ember in her
Extinguishes into ash
And crumbles away.
17, and she
Drowns and suffocates
Under the pressures and
Demands.
17, and her only comfort
Is the shadows of
Death
Now claiming her as their own.
17, and she’s
In the headlines,
The latest gossip,
The pity story.
17, and months later,
The media buzzes down and forgets,
But the sick mom waiting for her each night,
And the little brother she adores, remember.
Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death in people from the ages of 15-24, and over 48300 Americans die each year because they took their own lives. Most of the teens who commit suicide, do so because of stress and pressure. Every single person deserves a shot at life, and everyone deserves love and respect. Just remember, no matter how hard life is, someone out there remembers you, depends on you, waits for you, makes you happy, and loves you.
