South Korea

Written by Grace Kim, 16

I am a female living in South Korea.

Despite many of the advances we’ve made as a nation, gender disparity when it comes to things like positions, wages, and opportunities are still prevalent.

My personality is bold and opinionated, but that personality isn’t looked upon favorably in South Korea.

I am a feminist… I am unwelcome.

One time, I sat in a room with 3 other males hoping to get a chance for the internship.

I didn’t.

I asked: what made me different from them? The fact that I was female.

I asked: what made me less than them? The fact that I was female.

No.
